Woman of My Youth by T. Alisha Rogers

I remember so well

A person of whom I dreamed

A person of strength

A person of means

Humble, yet full of grace

Elegant, wise, uncommon

Beautiful inside, as much as her face.

She is the woman I would be

The woman matured, the woman me

Here I am

Here I stand,

Changed somewhat

Changed by life's grand plan

My body no longer slender

My waistline no longer petite

I bare the scars of life

Perhaps badges is of what I speak

Wisdom has come to me

Many lessons learned

Mistakes are always inevitable

How we handle them is what makes our life path turn.

Each of us have a depth to us

Waiting to be discovered

An intimate level of being

An evolution to be uncovered

Unbeknownst to the girl I once was

Were the challenges,

The hardships,

The bruises,

I was destined to incur

I transcended the woman of my youth

For the many times

My heart has been bled

Do not look at face value

Take some time to go a little deep

There is a beautiful soul being protected

The woman of my youth but more unique.
